Weekly Update May 19th

ONLY JESUS! .. one of my favorite songs, sung by Casting Crowns. If you haven't heard it I encourage you to google the lyrics or go somewhere like youtube and listen to it! It talks about all of the things we chase in life, and, much like Solomon in Ecclesiastes, in the end, God is the only thing that matters! Why did that come up! The girls are in the kitchen cooking supper and playing songs. That was the first one that they played (they know it's a favorite :)), now they're playing more Casting Crowns... living their lives for Jesus!! It doesn't get any better than that!!

Hi everyone!  I hope and pray that you have a great week!

If you noticed, I kind of left our La Ceiba project hanging last week without any closure. There were a lot of questions, good discussions, over the weekend. Today, (Monday), they signed the contract and are transferring the down payment! Thank you, Donald and Najae!! My prayer is that all we do we do to glorify God, and, in the process, we do a great job for them while continuing to provide work! We're going there tomorrow (La Ceiba) to investigate some local prices, clean some where we're going to stay (while we're working) and I'm going to look at some gray area issues. On the way back we stopped in San Juan, Honduras, for a picture. We had noticed a business there

called "Second Chance". It had a USA flag on it and everything! I needed to take the picture and send it to Tom to see, just like his

Second Chance store in Marysville! A nonprofit that helps local charities in Marysville!!

Two more days and Jerry will be here for 2 months! Then in a couple more weeks, Nikki and family (some of them ) will be here for 8

days! Exciting times ahead!!

What an interesting journey for Jerry! The sky's here in Honduras have been very hazy. We've been told that it's smoke from burning the

sugar cane fields (with no smell), dust from the Sahara Desert and lack of rain to clean the air. Well... they closed the airport before Jerry could land!! We were on the fence most of the day, not knowing, the people at the airport didn't know, the Delta app didn't know, nobody knew. So, we waited and waited. Prayed and prayed some more. The airport was packed! People trying to leave, people waiting for people to arrive...chaos! Eventually, we started hearing things... Spirit went back to USA, etc., as it turned out, Jerry ended up in El Salvador! After hours and hours of waiting in the plane, having one "takeoff time" delayed and delayed again. They ended up spending the night there. He was bused to a resort about an hour from the airport. No water... The next information was, takeoff at 9:30 the next morning, arrive in Honduras at 10:00. Eventually Jerry made it around 11:00 am! Back to the airport closure. They said it was visibility... well, this farm boy doesn't buy that! They fly at night, in the rain, in fog, all the time.... it had to be something different. My humble opinion.... it was because with the smoke, there wasn't enough oxygen in the air to keep the jet engines running... they couldn't chance a crash, and they didn't want the chaos with the truth, so that was what they told people...back to the song, ONLY JESUS!! And, I decided

to post the lyrics for you, they're in the pictures

Jerry didn't have all the fun, we were on the way to the airport on Wednesday and we were rear ended while sitting at a stoplight! We

were fine except the next morning my neck was hurting. The damage was extremely minimal to us, thankful for a heavy duty hitch we'd

put on after we bought the truck. The hitch extended enough to hit the frame of the Mazda truck before it hit our tailgate! It did a job on

his vehicle though! We had to push it out of the road, the radiator was shot, front bumper, hood, etc.

Boy is it hot today!! Today is Friday, the "feels like" temperature is 110 degrees! Even with a breeze it's still hot! Thankful that the electric

is on and we have air conditioning! We put the cage into the truck today. Then we tested in out when we went to the local hardware store

and the grocery store. It works pretty well! Jerry and I got in the back and rode around. Even in the heat, as long as we were moving

it was fine!

Saturday morning, it's still hot! And probably will be for a while. We had some visitors to our website last night and this morning from

India!! A pastor found our site, evidently shared it with some fellow pastors as three other locations in India viewed us! Then he emailed us. They have invited us (with prayer and an urgent plea) to come to India and teach construction to their people! Obviously, we will need a lot of prayer and support for that to happen!  We're just getting a good start here and I wouldn't want to put anything we've accomplished so far in jeopardy! Please pray 1) if this is God's will and 2) for Him to provide, 3) to open all the doors that need to be open, 4) to shut all the doors that need to be shut, 5) and for the timing to be His timing!  In thinking about this and

praying about it, I've come to the realization that because of my history in Honduras, the friends and contacts that I've made, that

Honduras is comfortable to me...it is my home away from home... is India or any other country I'm not "comfortable with" my Ninevah??? That thought is humbling and scary! Proverbs 16:9 a man's heart plans his way, but the Lord directs his steps!!

Happy Sunday! It is 5:15 pm, I'm trying to catch up with everything that's going on today. We made it to La Ceiba, unpacked, went to

Walmart to buy a bunch of supplies needed for us to "move in" and start work in the morning! Ebert and Beto are on water and electric

duty, they want to start cleaning the water tonight! Which will be good as the water tank is dirty and needs to be purged! At least we'll

have partially functioning bathrooms! I've got a little bit of time to type before we go to dinner, probably Pizza Hut tonight. There is

excitement in the air!! Everyone is pumped to have been able to travel to work as a team! Thank you, Jesus!!

Our hearts are full! Thank you all for your support! You are appreciated! Blessings, John and Tammy!!
