Good morning, everyone! Praying that you had a good week!
Sunday Tammy and I went to San Pedro Sula to help the girls (Cristel, Johany, Ashley) move to a new apartment! With Ashley
having to go to college in SPS and Cristel going too, they decided to move closer to the college. It turns out there is a popular apartment
complex across the street from the college, and several other girls from Omoa have stayed there. Kesaia, Julissa, Ruth to name a few. The girls' cousin Alex was there to help, which was really helpful, as both apartments had a lot of steps! The new apartment location is also in a safer part of town! Johany has a little farther to go for work at Yolany's Hope, it is a fairly easy bus route though. The advantages of having a pickup. We are popular on moving day!
I'm still working on quotes, I have a scheduled call today at 11:00 (Tuesday) with pastor Steve, it sounds like they have everything ready to start building a new church, probably after the first of the year! Exciting! I've also been talking with a gentleman who is working in the states and building a house here, he wants us to put a drywall ceiling in... with raised portions, etc. Ebert and Beto have removed the fuel tank from the bus, we need a new one... there is too much rust to try and repair. Now to see if they can find one! And, we have a new (used) fuel tank! We picked it up a little while ago in a bus junkyard, almost to Guatemala! They had several laying in the weeds, Ebert and Beto picked out the best one and the one closest in size to what we have! Now, to clean all the rust off of everything, paint and install! After our phone call this morning with pastor Steve; we have penciled in building him a new church! Projected start after the first of the year and to take 2 months, maybe 3!! Praise the Lord!
Today is Friday, it has been raining, sometimes storming at night this week. As a result, it is very humid! It is very easy to break a sweat! Since Tuesday we have been driving a lot, stuck in traffic a lot, running errands here and there. There was a medical team here from Lifeline Thursday, Lourdes and Ashley helped them. We were able to visit with Don and Lisa (leaders we know) and some of the team. Some from Columbus and some Kentucky. One of the Columbus members had been to Richwood many times as he used to have a friend there (since has moved). The guys almost have the fuel tank and all of the surrounding frame components replaced, that will
take a worry away! It is looking good!
Next week is a holiday week here in Honduras, the crew gets from Wednesday on off. It's the USA equivalent of Labor Day. They
call it Soldier's Day. This afternoon (Saturday), Ashley has class at college from 2-5, which means we'll have 3 hours to keep ourselves
out of trouble. We have plans to go to PriceSmart (similar to Sam's Club or Costco). That will use up some time. And also, it is less than
a block away from the college so it is easy to get to! After we came back from San Pedro Sula Saturday night, we decided to eat at
La Plaza. Glad we did, not only enjoyed talking with Carlos, there was a "torch" parade that we didn't know about. With La Plaza
being on the main road, a lot of activity happens right in front of the restaurant! The parade was a continuation of their Independence
Day celebrations.
Power has been out most of the day at our place, it forced us to go to the local ice cream shop so I could finish the update with their
wifi...sacrifices have to be made sometimes... :)
Thankful for you all! Blessings, John and Tammy
