Happy Monday! We pray that you all have had a wonderful week!
In a couple days, Wednesday to be exact, we are loading up and heading to Lexington, Kentucky for the International Conference on
Missions (ICOM)! We are going to stop at Brenda's on the way there to visit with her and Mike for a while. I'm looking forward to that! Then
we'll see how the conference treats us and whether or not we go again another year.
Today Sindy contacted me, the La Ceiba mayor's office had stopped and given us a citation for no permit. ?? We were told we
didn't need one for a remodeling project! Sindy is going tomorrow to figure out what is going on. Always something...
We made it to Brenda and Mike's for a visit in Independence, Ky. A nice 3-hour visit, thank you for lunch! Then on to Lexington where
we set up for ICOM that starts Thursday at 1:00 through Saturday evening. Then a nice lunch at a small local restaurant! God is good!
Sindy finally found an architect to come look at our project. I will need to talk to him sometime soon.
Today is Friday, early evening. Nikki left for home a couple of hours ago. Thank you, Nikki, for your help!! We are discovering that standing on concrete all day and part of the evening is hard on the back and the feet! Oh my! So far, we have talked to a lot of people, explaining what we are doing, receiving a lot of encouragement! Praise the Lord! We have talked about the value of us being here, keeping in mind that ICOM is every year, next year it is in Atlanta, and whether or not it is worth the time and money to attend. That is hard to say, the positive effects of this we may not know for a while if at all. We will see what it's like tomorrow, Saturday, what the response
is. I'm thinking that it is going to be worth it. Pray for some positive, definitive results for us!
The power has been off all day in Omoa, and raining now from the storm called "Sara", bringing projected rain totals of 18" to 39"!!
That is too much rain! There will be flooding and landslides. The people living near the rivers and in the low areas will have to move to
higher ground! We sent the crew home today because of the rain and no power. We'll have to evaluate Sunday night what the weather
is like and whether or not the power has been restored. When Brenda and I were in Honduras during the hurricanes Eta and Iota, it
rained almost 40" in 4 days. 248,000 people had to be evacuated! And now, at 7:30 this evening, Sindy can't be reached!! She and
Natalia are in La Ceiba. She is on high ground so they're safe that way. Beto is worried too! I'm figuring that the power is out, and her phone is dead, otherwise she would be communicating with us. Praying for their safety!!
It is now Sunday afternoon; a lot has happened in the last couple of days! Most importantly for us, Sindy and Natalia are safe! The power came back on in La Ceiba where she is and she was able to charge her telephone and contact us! Praise the Lord! Thank you for your prayers! The power is still off in Omoa, 3 days and counting.
The battle isn't over yet though. I haven't heard how much rain that Honduras received the last few days, the last I heard was 34 inches!! When you factor in the mountains and all of the rain that runs down the mountains like on our roofs, that is an awful lot of water down in the valleys!! There are a lot of people who live beside the rivers, they would all have to evacuate to higher ground! There were 34 total
bridges washed out in the northern half of the country! This will take a very long time to repair and replace these bridges! There are
going to be a lot of other clean up and repairs that will be needed to happen to help get the people back into their homes! Some people
have lost everything!
**** We are going to mobilize our crew and help where we can. Sindy is talking to pastors and other contacts to find out where we can
be of the most help the quickest. FOOD AND CLOTHING will be of great demand. PLEASE GIVE GENEROUSLY to this endeavor!
I'm going to post our QR Code for giving, please consider sending money for their needs! You can contact us however you want if you
need more information. cell: 740-262-5789, call or text; email: hishandsconstruction@yahoo.com. You can even mail a check to:
His hands construction inc. 20115 Predmore Rd Richwood, Oh 43344. Thank you in advance for you loving generosity! Since we will
have to wait a few days for the water to recede, the food and drinkable water will be extremely necessary by the time we can reach the
people!
Because of this situation, I will be waiting to tell you about our experiences at ICOM this year, our first time exhibiting, in a future
update.
Thank you for your prayers! Blessings, John and Tammy
