Weekly Update March 30th

Hi there! Hope you are all doing well!

As I type this, we are at the airport waiting for the team to arrive. The traffic wasn't too bad this morning! A nice surprise! It's

10:30 am now, Tuesday, and a humid 89 degrees! It's fun to track the plane's flight, at the moment it is halfway across the Yucatan

peninsula. At 600 miles per hour, it won't be long before we see them on approach. The plan today is to eat at Power Chicken, then

drive to Cofradia and find our hotel for the night. Then decide where to eat dinner. The team arrived safely! Praise the Lord!

Ashley

and Johany surprised us by meeting at the airport! Always fun to see them!

We have found a neat, clean little hotel in Mia's Place in Cofradia! We weren't too hungry, so we just ate some appetizer type food

at a little restaurant around the corner called El Tablon. Now to rest up for the workday tomorrow! A back story on Mia's place, when

Tammy and I came Sunday to scout out the hotel, we stopped at a gas station for a minute. Tammy struck up a conversation with a

guy who turned out to be a manager at a factory that makes wiring harnesses. One of their customers is Honda! What a small world!

We asked him about a nice place to stay and he gave us Mia's name. Thank you, Jose!

We had a great, productive day today! We worked at Ms. Maria's house. Thank you to those who donated to help her with part

of the build! More is needed if you feel so led. We finished the footings and got a really good start on digging the septic tank. It is roughly 5 feet square and at the moment, almost 5 feet deep. We are shooting for 11 feet deep; I think we'll need a ladder! lol the team will sleep well tonight! We ate dinner at Garden Blessings, in Cofradia, an oasis out in the suburbs. Great food, Christian music all evening long, a very nice place to eat! Leaving at 6:30 tomorrow for Copan. Going to help Nick and Nikki celebrate their anniversary with an excursion day! Thank you, Lord!

We had a very nice time at the Copan Ruins! It is always an interesting place, to listen to the guide as he explains the history of

all of the locations in the ruins! And then the Macaws flying around us, a very pretty bird! Tammy's favorite! We stayed in a hotel in the

town, right on the central square...the center of the action! Across the river is Guatemala, we were that close! There were some schools there visiting the ruins. One of the schools was staying at the same hotel, in talking with their teacher, we found out they were from La Ceiba, and, may need our services! Everywhere we go, God puts people in our lives! Tammy and I were out on part of the roof, not finished but ready to add two more floors, and the hotel manager came out to check on us (don't think he wanted us there, lol). He spoke English, and when he found out who we were, he said to call him, and he would give us a discount next time! Thank you, Rafael!

Friday night and we're back in Omoa, packing gift bags for the kids at vbs tomorrow in Esquipulas. This is the small colony where last

fall it flooded and washed away some of their houses and belongings. It was one of the locations where we handed out food bags during

our disaster relief project. We've packed 48 bags, expecting 30 or so kids. Thank you, Jesus, for allowing us to be Your hands and feet,

loving on the less fortunate.

What a fun day! We had 2 bags left, that was a little stressful, wondering if we had enough gift bags for all of kids that came... tonight

we're packing for vbs tomorrow, we're going to pack a few more extra ones! We had 46 kids today, playing games, singing songs,

listening to a story about Daniel and the lion's den, which went along with the craft that they did. A whole bunch of cute kids! Thank you

Jesus!! Tomorrow is church in Choloma in the morning with vbs in the afternoon there. We're expecting 30 plus kids. We left Scott (one

of our teammates) with Mordequo, to spend a couple days with his hermano (brother in espanol, meaning close friend). Everyone is tired

after a busy day, lot's of happy emotions serving the children and our Lord!

We went to church service this morning in Choloma, it was nice that pastor Mordequo translated his own sermon for us! And some of

the music they sang in English too! Thank you, Lord, for that! Vbs is at 2:00. I'll post the pictures from that on next week's update.

Thank you so very much for your prayers! Thank you to Jesus for allowing us to be His hands and feet in a poverty-stricken country!

We can't wait until the next day, to see what He has in store for us!

     Blessings, John and Tammy
