Hey everyone! It's birthday week! For two of us anyway. Mine is Friday and Sindy's is Sunday!
We made it back to La Ceiba today. The traffic was so very much better than it was last Monday. I don't know why either, last week
was horrible! Today was a breeze in comparison!
We met a new prospective customer today. We had been talking for a while about putting a new roof on his house. Jerry and I
tried to find it one day and couldn't. Today we had a pin location and found it pretty easily! The couple is from Chicago area, and
have been missionaries here for 14 years. They have a very pretty house on the beach with a beautiful view of the sea! And... their
house is very tall, 3 stories high! This is a job for the younger men! It was very nice to meet you today Tim and Nan! They are
looking at doing this project next April maybe, after they are done with their teams Feb. and Mar. Hopefully, we'll be able to help them!
Today is Wednesday. We had another meaningful worship service last night at El Faro church in La Ceiba! We are laying block, we
have the water tank off the second floor and everything is hooked up the way I want it. Now to watch until the main tank gets full so we
can watch the automatic fill portion and be sure it works correctly! A special thank you to Cale in Minnesota for his willingness for me to
bounce some plumbing ideas off him! We are also working in the kitchen, prepping the floor for tile and finishing the ceiling drywall.
Thursday morning and we're off to San Pedro Sula, Ashley has an interview for a position at a pharmacy at 1:00. Then we're
heading on up to Omoa for the weekend. Ashley has a big weekend! Saturday, she has another interview for a nursing scholarship and
Sunday afternoon we're going to go help the girls (Cristel, Johany and Ashley) move to a new apartment! Beto and Ebert went today to
investigate a used generator. We need one for the La Ceiba project, and if we can save some money??? Maybe...
And Friday evening we're going to La Plaza to celebrate the two birthdays! Nothing like a full weekend! Also tomorrow, changing the
oil in the pickup, seeing if we can patch the fuel tank on the bus, mow the lawn, work on quotes and who knows what else! Fun times!
On the way back from La Ceiba today, I saw a first...someone getting a ticket! Not sure what they did but the policeman was writing one
out. I had no idea they did that here. Then... to add insult to injury almost... Ebert was following me, and had been for quite a while, and
he got pulled over at one of the police check points and got a ticket for speeding!!! What?? He had been following me, and they had no
radar, they just arbitrarily said he was speeding and gave him a ticket! Unbelievable (almost)! I can always fall back on what brother
Darwyn told me, "Remember, it is still Honduras!" I drove a little more careful after that, lol ! Because the week before, I'd gotten
pulled over and the policeman did have a radar gun and told me I was going "muy rapido!" Then let me go on my way... thank you Jesus!
I think the unwritten speed limit on the main roads that aren't marked is 80 kph, which is about 50 mph. Most of the time you go a lot
slower than that however there are stretches, where you can go faster... :)
Happy Saturday morning! Last night was fun, dinner and birthday cake with a dozen friends who are family! This morning Beto
mowed the lawn while Antony, Natalia and Sindy raked and bagged the grass. This was one of those times where they did it out of
love for us, and for us to insist they not do it, would be taking their blessing away. Thank you, Lord, for good friends! This afternoon we're
taking Ashley to San Pedro Sula for her scholarship interview, praying for that to go well! We also met Cristel too, she was
going for the same interview, a scholarship for her college, she is studying business administration. Ok, so here's where the calm,
peaceful afternoon went south! We went to the CityMall for Ashley's interview, that was all she knew. When time came for them to meet
with the interviewers, we found out that they were taking the girls away from the mall to another location... red flags!! All we could think about was the human trafficking and we may never see them again, and what horrors were they going to go through! So, we walked the mall, trying to pass the time, prayed a half dozen times, sat and people watched, messaged Ashley to see if she was ok, no response... they were only supposed to be gone for an hour, Tammy's like, it's Honduras time, it could be 3 hours... she was right, still... at the 2-hour mark, we were walking close to where we'd last seen the girls and then here comes Ashley, hiding, trying to surprise us... what a relief! Praise the Lord! Cristel had already left for her apartment, but we had Ashley back! Thank you, Lord, for the blessings you place upon us!
Sunday morning, Ashley is going to help teach the youth at church this morning. Adult church isn't until evening. This afternoon is
when we're going to go help the girls move to a new apartment. Closer to the college so that will be nicer for them!
Thankful for you all! Praying for you to have a blessed week! John and Tammy
