Weekly Update Feb. 9th

Hi everyone!

Hope you are doing well! We are still fighting colds. I have had one forever it seems like, and now Tammy is coming down

with one. It feels like we're taking everything we can to combat it. Praying Tammy's cold doesn't hang around as long as

mine has!

Today is Thursday, finally getting time to catch up on my update. We went to La Ceiba this week and some surrounding areas.

The main focus was to visit the city and try to get our construction released and to have some positive steps to getting a permit

for the second-floor renovations that we are doing. We think we have made some progress. The city has given us some obtainable

items they need to issue the permit. We are working with them and the original owner to get all of the necessary documents and

our engineer is drawing the plans for the renovations. We are still weeks away but at least there's a plan (until it changes). This

has been a long process! We are hoping they will release us to work on the first floor now too. Waiting for that answer. And if we

can't get one, we may have to park ourselves at the city until we can get one!

We met with a couple other missions while we were there. We met with Shawn with Village of Hope ministries in Sambo Creek.

They have a large processing building that they want to start on in a couple months. We may be in a supervisory role there, using

locals to do most of the work, teaching them how to! Which is exactly why we are here! We also met with Irlen and Ben from GiveHope2Kids ministry in Jutiapa. They have a lot of unfinished projects they may need help with. They are going to compile a list so I can give them some idea of pricing. We also met with Tim and Nan with Helping Hands Helping Hearts ministry in La Ceiba. They are counting on us to do their new roof, probably middle of March. I need to finalize pricing with them too. Then try and lock in the scheduling. Adding to that list is pricing for Dan and Leane's roof replacement on Utila... I have a lot of paperwork to do! Not as easy here as in

the states. Here most stores don't have websites and the ones that do don't list all of the materials. A challenge!

Tammy has been raving about a tree she saw in La Ceiba. It is a eucalyptus rainbow tree. I will add a couple pictures, it is very

pretty! We have seen it several times now.

I spent a few hours Friday at the hospital, having tests done because my persistent cough just refuses to go away! I have an

appointment with the Dr. on Tuesday to review the results. So far, it's not my blood pressure, it's not influenza, it's not covid,

my lungs sound ok, my heart sounds ok... there are a few more tests that were ran with the blood draw and a chest x-ray to be

reviewed on Tuesday. Prayers appreciated!

Saturday morning and it's cooler today with a nice breeze. We had a request yesterday for a possible bus rental this coming week,

waiting to hear from them about our quote. Also visiting with another mission on some potential work at their mission house in Comayagua. There was an earthquake in the Caribbean, somewhere around the Caymen Islands. I've heard reports of it being

felt in Honduras. I didn't feel anything, Tammy says she felt it, similar to when you feel someone bouncing their leg fast. There were warnings of a tsunami on the north coast, which is where we are located. That came and went without anything noticeable happening. So far, I haven't heard of any damage.

I sent out a special fund-raising request email today, the first one I've done. Not sure what to expect other than God is leading us.

His will be done. Praying for positive results for this elderly lady.

A nice, cool Sunday morning. The sun is shining, the birds are chirping and making jungle type noises. A beautiful day the Lord

has made! Tammy is making homemade ice cream. Online church in a few minutes. The power has gone out twice, but it's on now! Life is good! Praise the Lord!

Thank you for caring! Blessings, John and Tammy

And just like that, February is half over already! As we age, the worldly things mean less and less, and the things of heaven mean more...
