We made it safely! Back in Honduras!
When we left Tuesday morning it was 5 degrees, when we got in the pickup to leave the airport it was 89 degrees! Quite a
bit different! And...it was the first time in 3 months that I needed mosquito spray! That, I wasn't looking forward too, lol.
We met some friends on the plane, Brent and Anne from Cornerstone Christian Ranch were on the same flight from Atlanta. We
had the opportunity to catch up while we were waiting for the plane to leave and then a little bit afterwards! A nice surprise! Pray
for them and their ministry please.
Today, Wednesday, we (Sindy, Tammy and I) are meeting and discussing employment laws in Honduras and deciding the best way to handle things this year and in the future. We also have a bunch of maintenance to do on the pickup and the bus, not an expense we were
looking forward too. We are also planning our first week, who do we go see when. I think we're going to La Ceiba and the area
this Friday and Saturday. We have 3 projects to look into and some people to talk too, including the project that has been on hold
for a couple months while we're trying to sort out the permit process and what we're going to have to do to fix that.
The plan is in for the rest of the week! Tomorrow (Thursday) we need to get the pickup's front end aligned, go to the bank to deposit
a USA check in USA dollars to see if that works and how long it will take to clear. If it does work, then we can write checks and not have to spend $40 each time we transfer money here. Then heading to La Ceiba. If we get there soon enough, we are going to meet with a representative of Give Hope 2 Kids, a mission in Jutiapa (east of La Ceiba a half hour) where they have some construction work to be done. Then on Friday we're going to Utila to visit with Mr. Dan about his roof replacement,

looking at it to see how much of the existing roof we can save to reuse (it is clay tile). Then Friday evening we're meeting with our engineer at the jobsite in La Ceiba to talk about what needs to be done to strengthen the structure to allow the second-floor remodeling to continue and getting the permit from the city. Then on Saturday we're meeting with a potential person who could be our manager for the Atlantida Department (La Ceiba, Tela, bay islands, etc) in the afternoon. If we don't get to meet Thursday night with Give Hope 2 Kids, we will meet with them Saturday morning.
Today (Wed.) we went to look at a resort in Omoa that is looking for some maintenance work to be done. The owners won't be back in town until the end of January. They indicated what the first thing needed done is, we'll go look at it next week if we get time.
Well, it's Sunday evening and we didn't get done everything we planned, but that is how it goes isn't it... "man makes plans, God guides our steps"... Proverbs 16:9 To start with today, the fan belt on the bus broke as Beto was on his way to a bus rental job...
and on a Sunday, impossible to find the correct size belt. In the process of Beto and I trying to put on a belt that was too small,
I cut my finger pretty badly and it's difficult to type now, lol . Brenda, the customer, was very gracious in figuring out plan B for
their bus need. Hopefully we're back up and running tomorrow so we can fulfill the second half of our commitment Friday. As far
as the rest of our plans last week. We made it to Utila, meeting with Dan and Leanne regarding their roof replacement. And we
met with the engineer on brainstorming what to do with the house remodeling project in La Ceiba. The other two planned meetings
fell through. We didn't get the front end aligned as the F-150 was too big for their machine, and we didn't get to the bank as the line
was a hundred people long on the outside of the bank! We didn't stay. We'll need to reschedule those items soon. Darwyn just asked if we could come to Tegucigalpa to help finish a couple school rooms there. We're trying to make that happen tomorrow and this week.
Phew! A whirlwind of a first week back!
I'd better get this sent, it's late and I need some rest! Praying for you! Blessings, John and Tammy
